In the early hours of May 22, 2025 a private plane crashed into homes in Murphy Canyon Military Housing. More than 100 families were suddenly homeless and in dire need of replacement clothing, children’s clothing and infant items. Barbara Chavez, Executive Director, Military Outreach Mission-San Diego (MOM-SD) received word via EFAC, an emergency family action center, at 7am indicating a great need for emergency items of all sorts. Springing into action immediately she had a van filled with food packs, baby diapers, formula, clothing and hygiene items, delivering them by 10 am to an emergency location in Murphy Canyon Housing.
Quoting from the commendation letter MOM-SD received from Captain Robert Healy, Jr., Naval Base San Diego, “Your contributions were truly invaluable, and we are immensely grateful for your support! You demonstrated unwavering support during this devastating event, providing critical and much-needed assistance to the affected families.”
